Re: Dana 44- Open, LS - Thoughts on your setup??

So I think this was answered in a previous comment... but being new to lockers and such I am going to ask again in hopes to gain clarification. I have manual locking hubs up front - so if I were to put a locker up front in the D44, then: Hubs are unlocked = technically "open" differential Hubs are ...

Re: Dana 44- Open, LS - Thoughts on your setup??

I forgot that the TT was the one without clutches. If you can't lift one wheel and spin it fairly freely you're going to get a lot of feedback and it's gonna want to go straight. Obviously there's a lot of room for fine tuning based on limited slip design but that's the gist of it.

Re: Dana 44- Open, LS - Thoughts on your setup??

I'm running a Trac lok up front with 4.88. I like it so far. I for sure wouldn't do a locker, the limited slip makes it hard enough to turn. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The automatic (lunch-box or Detroit) gives no resistance when you're not on the gas hard enough to lock it up. The LS has t...

Re: Dana 44- Open, LS - Thoughts on your setup??

What's the part number on the truetrac you guys run and do you have to use the spring in the slip joint trick? I do spring outside the slip. I just happened to have a spring that was the right size to go over the splines but not slip over the axle and was about the right rate. I didn't feel like di...

Re: Dana 44- Open, LS - Thoughts on your setup??

So far I'm very happy with lunch-box lockers in both ends. No feedback from the front when not on the throttle in 4, can't say the same for an LS. Seems to be a significant improvement over open front with a lunch-box out back but I haven't gone wheeling very much since I put it in.

Re: "Ambulance" Tie Rods

Just to throw some more confusion into the mix. Lost of vans use the bigger drag link. The taper is compatible and IIRC they use a rod end with more drop on the passenger knuckle. Haven't put a full assembly on a truck yet so I don't know if they can be adjusted to spec or if they're too wide but fr...

99-04 2wd arms or build extended stock arms

I got a set of beams, arms, coils, hubs, etc. off a 99-04 F250/350 (basically all the stuff you'd toss if you SAS'd it). The front end of the arms appears to be compatible with our radius arms. They're significantly longer (at least a foot or so, just eyeballing it) and obviously sturdier constructi...

Re: Where do you cut to extend beams

The ideal cut and turn would be cut so that your turn is about the center of the U joint. That would eliminate all issues with diff clocking, spline engagement length and passenger shaft window clearance. Everything inboard of the cut section would be geometrically equivalent to stock beams. Obvious...

Re: Tailgate delamination?

In my case the spare tire rack is coming off and tire inside, so no more worry in the rough stuff. Do you think the TG is repairable or too much welding, bodywork and repaint so better to start with another one? Ughhh, seems like typical low end (i.e. "get it done quickly and cheaply" not "make my ...

Re: What goes here?

Yes and you can run a larger filter FL1A or 51515 wix vs the stubby one that goes with that pancake cooler a-dapter. I omitted that system as I didn't want one of those hoses to take a dump in the middle of nowhere but its actually a nice set up. I kept it on my motorhome since it is a nice feature...

Re: Bearings

Hello all, I just tried to go buy some wheelbearings at O'Reillys and the higher quality stuff is made in China just like the house brand. I bought the cheaper bearings because they were both made in China-have any of you all use the cheaper Chinese bearings over the more expensive Chinese bearings...

Yes. Some trucks got them. Some didn't. By 94/5/6 most trucks had them.

Re: What goes here?

It was an oil cooler. Coolant lines connected to the hose barbs. They do a good job bringing oil up to operating temperature quickly and preventing it from being more than a few degrees hotter than the coolant.

A lot of people disconnect them because they think they heat the oil.

Re: Electric Fans

I have been running an electric fan set up for the past few years rated at 2600 CFM. Recently the bronco has been running about 10 degrees warmer but also the AC is not nearly as efficient (60 degree air at idle 55 when moving) but recently had it serviced and was blowing cold but was in the shade ...

Come on that's a 15 minute fix including a smoke break That's a 10 minute fix if whoever is fixing it allows employees to smoke in the shop, 9min if there's outlets close by and nobody has to roll out extension cords, 8min if the welder is ready to go. Agreed, it's not like it's a break caliper whe...

There are a ton of ways around it. Some are legal and others are not so legal. If you look and ask around you can probably find a smog guy these usually range from $200-$400 and you will never meet the guy that actually puts the smog through or know the name of the shop its better that way for you ...

I was gonna say "stand on the brake in a dirt parking lot and find out for yourself"

There's literally no way a system without it's own pump won't vibrate the pedal.
