Dumb question but just to be sure, when everyone says the 1" uniball, are they talking about the spindle pivot or the beam pivot?

You wanna try to have the beam and shock as close to 90* (degrees) as possible at full bump. Just for the record isn't it better to put an angle on the shocks to make the travel more efficient and abuse it less? I gotta learn all about it!
