Re: NORRA 1000 2014

Kind of confusing having two threads of the same title posted by different people. One can be accessed only through active topics, and the other through board index. But Yikes thread doesn't show up at the same time as Bukins even though they are supposed to be in same folder.

Re: NORRA 1000 2014

Got another update this morning. #15 and crew keeping it on the trailer today but continuing to follow the race to Cabo. BajaF250 joining them since their #33 ride is also out. I think the course is definitely difficult this year having recently driven some of those sections. They reported getting s...

Re: NORRA 1000 2014

15 truck, 2nd in class first day . Transmission problems day 2 at mile 60. Broken pump gear. Rebuilt over night in Loreto and at mile 3 suspect broke same part in trans. I don't know what they are doing for tomorrow. With that group of guys I wouldn't be surprised to see it show back up on the track...

Re: Bronco Recall

Perhaps since all the BS GM is getting over the ignition switch thing they decided to review and expand a little bit. I don't remember but is the problem that the wire is unfused or that it will melt at lower amperage than the supplied fuse. I know the switch leaks and shorts it. My 96 had a melted ...

Re: rear spring hanger

I think you can get stock hangers and stuff through Summit racing also and they offer good service. Reason people use drop hangers is to use a longer shackle or change their spring angle/ ride height a little. With a longer shackle the shackle travels a little less degrees of motion through the trav...

Re: Rear Traction Bar setups

I disagree that it should be as long as the springs as above. The pinion angle change would be huge over 18 inches with that. The pinion angle of a leaf by itself does not change as if it pivots on the front eye. I think the longer version would have more success with the shackle but it will still ...

Looks like JuanCO is one with a name I recognize from the off road race scene with Fords.
Couple dyno shops too in El Cajon.

Re: Going wider

In my opinion going a lot wider has some drawbacks of no longer being able to drive around stuff. You better upgrade your shocks because you pretty much have to drop it in the ruts or between the bushes and rocks and hit whatever comes.

Re: Start Your Go-Fast Build-Front Suspension

I think you nailed it CS. It is only used for backup in go fast applications. But the biggest reason it is not used a lot more is because it will break if you push it hard. It is an advantage to use but I stopped using it much because of damage, then you have no backup.

Now I will have to dig my 30 year old one out and check the hose! Just how long was that warranty? Had a good chuckle envisioning the stomp and splash method.

Re: Offroad LIghts -How Many on One Switch??

Don't forget the HID pulls about twice the amperage for a few seconds on start up. Its long enough to trip slow circuit breakers. Pretty much 2 per 20 amp supply. 2 lights per switch is good or the single Cyclops makes strange photos.

Re: Score Baja 250 2014

Have you tried the trackleaders.com site and contacting them for useable data. Lots more data up now on their site than on race day. They wont have results and exact start finish times though. If you hit the race miles layer in individual racer pages it shows the revised mileages and map. no coordin...

Re: TTB 5 lug to 6 lug

Crappy wheels. I remember an old Soad truck that ran 8 lug hubs with lug nuts only on 4 studs. Their thought was more studs distributed the load better and then the 4 nuts kept tire change time down. Spirkoffs stock full truck did this. I think this guy just wants to keep from changing his Toyota w...

Re: Score Baja 250 2014

Congratulations to the Wilson Team. Sounds like you overcame some troubles and hauled the mail at the end for the win. Did you guys dump any fuel in? Didn't see you stop on tracker after Valley T. Thank you! We did not put fuel in because of the shorter race. We started full with 80 gal of fuel. Th...
