Re: Dent Side Racing TORC team. *Hillbilly fun & some work*

Absolutely good to see the updates and that you are still going after it! There is certainly a learning curve that has to be suffered through to get things where they are reliable, and there are no short cuts even if you somehow have a box car full of money to work with. When you do find those vendo...

Re: Second alternator location

Yes, we have one in that approximate location, and yes, it is much closer to the dirt. The water doesn't affect them that much unless you submerge them or it's salty. That alternator has its own very short belt and custom crank pulley.

Re: Compression test out of the bronco

I have a transmission and engine and starter i was thinking maybe hotwiring the starter to a battery to spin it? I was not sure if a leak down test would be accurate as I’ve been told differently Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk[/quote] If you can spin it this way, that would be fine. Make sure yo...

Re: Compression test out of the bronco

Going to be hard to spin it to test it with a standard compression testing gauge, but if it has a flywheel and something to bolt the starter to (transmission or bell housing), then it's possible. The other thing you can do is use a leak down tester which uses compressed air and an orifice and a coup...

Re: Leaf springs separated

That's the wrap leaf on top, there is no load on them, so there is really nothing to hold it down. The other leaves are separated by the buttons. Are these Deavers?

Re: C6 neutral safety switch leak ???

There's an O-ring that seals that kick down shaft. There is another special seal that seals the shifter shaft. The down side is the pan has to come off to change them, they have retaining nuts that or only accessible from the inside of the trans. It also looks like you need to drop the valve body to...

Re: California City OHV

The article is pretty accurate about the variety of places to ride and wheel to. California City itself is pretty depressed. Other than the prison, and the aerospace stuff in Mojave, there just isn't much there to draw people in. There are the basics, a little grocery store, couple gas stations, and...

Re: Upper Ball Joint Press tool

On the 78/79 knuckles, I do the lower first, then I am able to just set the flat end of the lower knuckle on the frame press and then press the top one in. You have to make sure you don't get carried away when putting the top one in, and stop pumping when it just seats. You could bend or break the k...

Re: TRC's 79' build

Boy, that truss and fixture look VERY familiar! We also tie the top together after having a rock pop the center of the housing and shatter the casting. It also keeps the tubes from compressing further into the center housing. Can't remember where the pictures of one of ours in the fixture is, and ca...

And the tide came way up Monday morning and flooded most of the camps that were along the beach. Made it interesting for those that were anxious to get out early. Drove right back into the fog bank when we got to the valley.

Here's a couple of pictures my buddy John took. He and his son Logan had a fantastic time wheeling with you guys in the Rugged company taxis, thanks for that.
Wish I had a video of Dan and Tiff wheeling the Ford Focus wagon up to the camp.....!

Re: Used shock buyer tips

I will say that good name brand shocks that can be rebuilt will hold their value and can be rebuilt back to essentially new condition, regardless of their manufacture date. My experience is primarily with King and a little with Fox. You should be able to re-sell used shocks for about what you paid f...

Re: '89 2wd B2 daily

By far the best bang for the buck, the biggest change you can make to how it behaves on washboard is going to be bigger tires that you don't have to run at 30+ psi. These trucks are hyper sensitive to bad shocks on the highway, but even good stock shocks will take care of that. You will have to ask ...
