Re: Craigslist, RDC, DR, etc... Go Fast Bronco Stuff
Says it was posted 16 days ago. Wonder if that means it's gone?? I'd love to have it too but have no place to store yet another one either. There are some parts on there I wouldn't mind having. Maybe I'll email him just to see as I will be in Monrovia next weekend. I missed the part that says the a...

Re: Seasoned Racer into Broncos NV
Good to see you here Brad! Curious to see more about the race Bronco build for V2R. I like that race but never had anyone to race against when we did it.
"Seasoned Racer" is an understatement. You need to include "Innovative" in that title somewhere.

Re: HuckFeast 2016
I plan to be there with the old trailer and the family camping on the beach for the weekend. With a group or by ourselves, the family is looking forward to it. The Hoon Racing guys had already scheduled the same weekend so they may wander in or vice versa. As always, I am curious if the creek is run...

Moss Brothers Racing 2015 Baja 1000 Race Report The 2015 Baja 1000 was made up of some new firsts for us, without the usual outcome. The race had returned to its schedule the week before Thanksgiving and was a loop race of approximately 821 miles, starting and finishing in Ensenada. Note that the ma...

Re: Stage 8 "X Lock" advice
Not sure if you already have the Stage 8 or not by reading through the text. If you do, they provide an instruction sheet with the new units and I believe it is also available on line. The parts have to go in a certain way. We do use them but have had problems usually related to the spindle breaking...

Re: Cast Transmission Pan Differences Opinions???
After having a really bad experience with a cast pan, I went back to using the stock pans. Of course this is with the C6 transmissions in the earlier trucks. The deeper pan seemed like a good idea however it interfered with the bolt access with the 79 cross member. The kicker was that they used a fa...

Re: Jack and jack skid question
My preference is mechanical jacks, but those have their problems in severe conditions as well. Have had trouble with the hydraulic floor jacks, especially the HF units when they get turned upside down and then have to be bled. I also dislike the skids because they can's slide when you get to the upp...

Not the largest gear ratio selection but enough to work with.

I do believe that is the one. Still cracks me up that co-driver Dan didn't even realize the other one was tied on the back until I pulled over at the top of the hill. He did mention the truck was a real dog going up the hill!

Re: E4OD issues
The RPM drop when you get on it happens when the torque converter locks up. All of the E4OD's I have driven, diesel or gas, do that when you go from light throttle to heavy throttle, and they did it from when they were new to 300K miles. The flare on shift doesn't sound good and I am not sure what y...

Yes it will fit. It's under $100 and your going to get new bearings anyway if it's being rebuilt. It all adds up in a hurry and there are many thousands of stock carriers out there that survive just fine.

Re: Building a 9 inch
Well you can break anything if you try hard enough. The weak point on the standard case is the area around the small bearing that supports the end of the pinion shaft. I have never broken a nodular case but then we don't run a ton of hp either. If you are stepping up to 40 spline axles, you need the...

Re: MOSS BROTHERS 79 BRONCO CLASS 3 RACER
Hi Moss Brothers, what U joint series do you run in the driveshafts? CV at transfer case? we run stock u-joint sizes in all locations. Used a 1350 billet yoke at the pinion for a while but found that they would bend easily with a rock strike. You couldn't tell until the u-joints would only last a f...

Re: Trans and gear ratio's ?
After 30,000 race miles and nearly half of that in second gear, I can safely say that what will burn up a C6 transmission is slippage, a plugged filter, or insufficient cooling. Even the standard aluminum housing planetary with 3 planet gears and stock input shaft holds up, at least with something s...

Back in the day King would look at a video of your rig going thru the whoops and washboard and change the valving to fix what they did not like. I wonder it they will still do that? Yes King will still do that with a video. It is still far better to meet them in Barstow when they are doing a shock ...

Re: Cop/Ambulance Dual Alt Brackets
FYI, my big alt in my Crew Cab (460 EFI, 3G alt) will try to stall with a big load on it at idle (The big 3000watt inverter I sold 300 a while back) and make the belt slip.. I in fact use that inverter to test my alternators before every race. That and a little 1800 watt space heater. Loads it righ...
