Re: Stock width beams and glass

A lot of people do trim that rear section and push the inner fender up. You might want to set the bump stops so they hit before your tire bashes into the inner fender. That's the other thing I was thinking of doing as well. Trim it up as much as possible and then set bump stops. I was cycling the s...

Re: Stock width beams and glass

You can always take out the inner fender. You will have to find a way to support everything else under the hood. Autofab makes some stock appearing fenders that have larger openings. Well I thought about taking the inner fender out but I don't know if I want to go through the trouble of relocating ...

Re: Stock width beams and glass

Ryan I will post pics when I get off work. In the front of the truck, so far I have had to trim my fender liner along the backside of the wheel well (behind the tire) - both sides (driver & pass). I also think on full bump it hits the top of the wheel well (although not entirely sure). For the rear,...

Re: Stock width beams and glass

I believe they are aftermarket wheels, the PO painted them so there is no indication of the type. I have 35x12.5xR15 - which is pretty standard for 35's I think?
As far as offset goes, I don't think so.

Stock width beams and glass

Hey guys, I have been searching and talking back and forth on fiberglass fenders/bedsides for a while now. And I am not sure which I should do. I have deaver 5.5" coils up front with a 10" 7100 bilstein on Camburg coil buckets. I have stock width beams, running a homemade drop bracket (previous owne...

Re: TRC's 79' build

Mine were BARELY rubbing, so I got a carbide bit on a die grinder and clearanced it. I didn't have to take much more than 1/4" off mine I think the body's might be different from 79 to 94 lol. But my xmember has like a "lip" that curves down. The shackles themselves rub barely, but the deavers (j40...

Re: TRC's 79' build

Did you have to notch your cross member along the body for your shackles? I have the same ones and mine are rubbing right on that xmember.
If you did have to notch it, how much did you take out and what did you use to do it?

Re: Camburg shackles/cutting rear crossmember

Hi biggiek, I just did the same thing (add J40's with Camburg shackles). I ran into the same problem with the shackles rubbing that cross member. My plan to fix that is just cut what is needed for it to cycle cleanly. Right now I also have a bad pinion angle, and serious vibrations. I am welding new...

Re: Ryan's '96

And with how fairly cheap those ballistic plates are - it wouldn't really matter. It's not that hard to tear down and build up again haha.

Re: Ryan's '96

Are you running the Deaver 5.5" coils?
That is what I am running, but they are used as well. Initially they are 22" unsprung, mine were settled at 20". So they'e settled a good 2".
I might not lose height if I switch to the plate, but I might at the same time. I am not sure.

Re: Ryan's '96

dang that really did straighten those Deaver's out. Did you lose any lift/ride height or gain any at all?
Also do you have any spacers in the top of your buckets?

Re: Ryan's '96

Ryan,

Could you post a few pics of our deavers mounted? I would like to see how they look and how your ride looks with those ballistic plates if you dont mind!

Re: Deaver Coils bend inwards?

BDKW1,
That is very interesting. I would love to see some pictures of this.
Where can I find those bevel head Allen bolts? That could work too

Re: Deaver Coils bend inwards?

I think I am going to do those plates. There not very expensive either. Are you running drop brackets or C&T?

Re: Deaver Coils bend inwards?

Removing the bolt might be a solution. There are 6 grade 8 bolts holding it in, so what's minus one. As I know coil springs will not always sit straight and bow, I do not expect to get a perfect line up. I just don't want to hear the constant clunk over ever bump haha

Re: Deaver Coils bend inwards?

I was able to find it, although all I saw was pictures. Do you have more pictures as to what the process you did was? Surely it is simple - line it up and then figure out which ears need to be trimmed. Did this lower your height at all or raise it? I already sit lower in the front then I do in the r...

Re: Deaver Coils bend inwards?

RyanDS650X, The sway bar is only temporarily. I am in the process of converting to just a go fast truck, as it was my daily driver a while ago. Since I have added in the deavers and longer shocks, the swaybar limits my travel significantly. I am going to remove it here soon. So the flat plate will m...

Re: Deaver Coils bend inwards?

That's what I was assuming philofab. How would I go about an angle shim? Would my theory of drilling a higher hole on my drop bracket possibly correct it?
Eventually I think I am going to move to C&T beams, just a matter of time and money haha.

Deaver Coils bend inwards?

Hey Guys, So I just swapped my front suspension over from dual shocks and a rough country coil spring over to camburg buckets, deaver coils, and bilstein 7100's. The process wasn't hard at all. However, after letting the springs settle and testing the truck, you constantly hear the spring rubbing on...
