Re: 96' Daily Driver

What to do when there's no real budget or time for real upgrades? ...why, install questionably necessary lighting on your breaks of course. http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu140/motorbreath53/JUICE/20200805_210949.jpg http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu140/motorbreath53/JUICE/20200806_214548.jpg

Re: The BroncO 'Bama Build

Cool stuff!

I want to widen a set of beams next time I have one apart. Seems straight forward enough.

Whats your plan for axles? And are you acounting for the lift with moving the balljoint or are you building it into the splice on the beams?

Re: 96' Daily Driver

Not sure what was up with the photos? But here is the updated... I need to stitch some bracing to the back of the panel as it has just enough flex to bug me. I had to have my buggy motor gone through which absolutely annihilated my spending money, so I settled for the cheap ebay switches for now. Ho...

Re: 96' Daily Driver

Baby progress... but cool enough to check in I spose'. I found a 2004 Expedition console. (Actually I've had it since I posted last. I scored it while staying up in Glen Helen for a class. I was looking for any reason to not be drinking alone in the motorhome at 4PM.). Anyway, just got around to mak...

Re: 96' Daily Driver

Nice! You did unbolt the front driveshaft for the tow right? Negative. I read a fair amount prior to dragging this thing to Oregon last summer. My understanding was: That with a manual shifted transfer case it was acceptable to flat tow with the hubs unlocked, trans in park and t case in neutral. I...

Re: 96' Daily Driver

Had to chime in to report that it flat tows behind a motorhome like a champ! I was a bit concerned considering the omission of the swaybars front and rear. Not to mention the Harbor Freight free with coupon tape measure alignment. http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu140/motorbreath53/JUICE/20191021...

Re: 96' Daily Driver

I enjoy seeing the coil bucket. I would like to get my hands on a set. Buckets are cool... but I'd have done a coilover in a heartbeat if those found me first. These kinda landed in my lap. Where in SD are you? Looking back at this thread and that fox mustang looks super familiar.. Sent from my iPh...

Re: 96' Daily Driver

I love the magazine idea! Ill try that one when I get some lower profile lower spring perches. ( gotta lower the nose bleed look just a bit) I usually use a couple pieces of peel n'stick linoleum tiles with grease on them but I just tossed em a month ago. I hosed the concrete with simple green this ...

MOOG CC820 Progressive Springs $50

I bought these to run on my truck, but some other parts found me first. These are supposed to be a "heavy duty" stock replacement spring. Due to the slightly heavier rate, they act as a of leveling spring. Perfect for the "no cut turn required" 33 or 35 install. New in box with only some slight pain...

Re: 96' Daily Driver

What thickness of plate did you use for the plating and truss? It varied a bit in size. The open areas on the back of the beam I used 1/4" plate. Thats where plating seemed to be the most beneficial. On the front of the beams I used 1/8". The truss was cut from a piece of 2x6" .120 steel that I had...

Well... set it all on the ground to find that moving the balljoints out would be absolutely necessary... which one of you wants to send the first " I told ya so"? http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu140/motorbreath53/JUICE/20190831_005820.jpg http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu140/motorbreath53/J...

Re: 96' Daily Driver

Fix one problem... find another. But I'm in good spirits cause this is far nicer stuff than I planned on giving this old sow. Anyway... ive got appropriate bumpstop with this... but the shock mount location on the old Rancho stuff is about an inch too forward which of couse makes the big boy shocks ...

Re: 96' Daily Driver

Will you be using the same beams when you go to coilover? If so, did you consider doing uniball beam pivots in place of bushings? If I go coilover, it'll only be after some heim radius arms and cross over steering... ill do uniballs for sure at that point. For now it just seemed like an unnecessary...

Re: 96' Daily Driver

So I had forgotten how fun drilling frame rails isn't! A mag drill setup would be in my Amazon cart if I was doing that with any kind of regularity. Rear axle is in, though im holding out on gluing the cover until ive convinced myself I don't need that desolate brace/cover. Or maybe just a bearing c...

Re: 96' Daily Driver

HA! Shoulda' known better than to think I was done cutting/grinding/welding on this project. Went to mock up to decide how much to move the pivot brackets for the radius arm. (Thinking 13.5" instead of the 15" suggested in Rancho's instructions) Anyway, I found that the shock body will bottom out lo...

Re: 96' Daily Driver

Stuck at work, so no progress on the passenger beam. (Though I did get all the plate cut last time I was home.) I made use of my lunchtime/ downtime at work with a refresh of my $50 FOX 2.0s. Yea I'm closer to $150 after seals and oil... but nevermind that... http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu140...
