Re: The Flyin Filarski's TTB Jeep XJ

No plans to race. Just a4 seat, family friendly desert/Baja pre-runner. 1700 only allows ifs if it was the factory based suspension. If someone builds a liberty or newer Grand they're going to kill it. Our would fit 3700 and we do have plans to link the rear but need to work it out so it doesn't int...

Re: The Flyin Filarski's TTB Jeep XJ

We put a solid 300 miles on it over the weekend. Everything worked flawless, but both ends still need to be tuned. Drives bitchen on and off the road. Heres a quicky slow-mo vid. Eric http://youtu.be/pVYCCokNznk More to come. We still have some finish work and tuning to do, but we're super stoked to...

Re: The Flyin Filarski's TTB Jeep XJ

Been working on getting everything welded front to back lately. We're hoping to have a roller very soon so we can get it weighed and get the spring rates narrowed down. The engine cross member was still on the list, so we worked on checking that off last sunday. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b30...

Re: The Flyin Filarski's TTB Jeep XJ

We started working on the steering. The box needed to be moved forward a three inches because of the added wheelbase and to clear the x-member. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b304/EricFilar/970401_10202242159762487_1144939358_n_zps1841dc89.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b304/EricFilar/1231...

Re: The Flyin Filarski's TTB Jeep XJ

We got busy on a couple other jobs for the last couple months, but were able to get a few things done... We got some of the Charlie Brown done and added another tie in from the a-pillar. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b304/EricFilar/IMG_0243_zps2ff62e06.jpg We finished the cross member for the mo...

Re: The Flyin Filarski's TTB Jeep XJ

Great work as usual guys!! I can't wait to see it in person. What do you think it'll end up cycling? I have seen many on here angle the top mounts of the shocks too.... is there a benefit to that in your eyes? It cycles 17-3/4" and we figure we'll strap it at 16'sh. We cycled it both ways, with and...

Re: The Flyin Filarski's TTB Jeep XJ

Once we had the majority of the radius arms made up, we started working on the shock mounts. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b304/EricFilar/IMG_7466_zps10ed42a7.jpeg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b304/EricFilar/Ryans%20Cherokee/IMG_2263_zps7b73f6d4.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b304/Er...

Re: The Flyin Filarski's TTB Jeep XJ

We got some Father’s day garage time passes this weekend. Ryan and I worked on getting the radius arms built so we could cycle the suspension for and get the shocks mounted. We started with 1-3/4 tube and then worked on the plate work. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b304/EricFilar/Ryans%20Cheroke...

Re: The Flyin Filarski's TTB Jeep XJ

Not much to update. finished all the plate work on the beams. Made the clocking ring and clocked the diff to compensate for the cut and turn. Knocked out the truss and just need to finish some welding before it all goes back under the car. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b304/EricFilar/photo16_zps...

Re: The Flyin Filarski's TTB Jeep XJ

Thanks,
For the most part we draw everything up in CAD just with good ol'fashioned measurments, but occaisionaly we make a cardboard pattern if its easier or just makes sense...
The plate work is all cut with plasma on our Torchmate.

Re: The Flyin Filarski's TTB Jeep XJ

We got the beams cut and turned and a lot of the plate work on the beams done over the weekend. Still need to truss the front of the diff housing, but progress is progress... http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b304/EricFilar/Ryans%20Cherokee/IMG_4589_zps8d4e5ac1.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/...

Re: The Flyin Filarski's TTB Jeep XJ

We got a couple things knocked out last Saturday. Ryan got the OE bushings cut out of the beams and tacked in the spherical cups. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b304/EricFilar/Ryans%20Cherokee/IMG_4207.jpg We designed and built the lower radius arm mounts. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b304/E...

Re: The Flyin Filarski's TTB Jeep XJ

1-7-13 Now that Baja's past and the holidays are over, its time to jump back on the XJ. We spent most of Saturday cleaning up the shop and dont have a lot to show yet, but were able to get some of the double sheer done. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b304/EricFilar/Ryans%20Cherokee/IMG_4133_zps8f...

Re: The Flyin Filarski's TTB Jeep XJ

Still not a ton of progress.
Ryan got the cross member welded and tacked in place and we spent the rest of Saturday getting my lathe wiring plumbed so we can machine the spherical bearing mis-alignments for the beams.
