Re: Jack and jack skid question
Why not a Humvee jack? I bought one and it's awesome. The govt doesn't put weight capacities on them so I'm assuming they are 5 ton. They lift to around 22" We had a Hummer H1 scissor jack and it worked great at first then it failed, stripped out the gears in it. It was rated at 3.5 ton. You can fi...

Re: How to mount bead locks
Now how do you unseat the bead without a tire machine? Have tried parking the front of a diesel pickup on the sidewall, no luck. So I always end up taking them to a tire shop to break the bead.

Re: To link or leaf?
I ended up needing new leafs every 2 years on a chase/prerun bronco that was only used for course marking the baja score races. So that was about every 6 races (roughly 3000 miles), running the course with lots of marking supplies. The coil springs on a coilover linked rear end would last 20+ years ...

Re: TTB vs. THE WORLD (AKA differences between Ford TTB axles)
jack up the front and turn the driveshaft by hand counting rotations until the tires make a full rotation. will get you close enough to then round off to the nearest common ratio. if both fronts do not turn same direction and speed then drop one front on ground and just do it with one wheel in the a...

Re: Transfercase gearing change
Front end has been taking a lot of abuse. I hit a rock hard enough to break a front wheel and tear the brake caliper off and bend the tie rod on day 2. The Spidertrax stuff has been great so far. The axles and 3rd member are shot though. Front end needs a full tear down and prep. We have been having...

Re: Transfercase gearing change
I think this idea might be workable with a gear based reduction style box but stock boxes are typically around 2:1 which makes for too tall of an overdrive. I talked to someone at Atlas about this when I saw they said they were introducing a close ratio box in 2015. This box has a 1.5:1 low range in...

Re: Best Trans Cooler Flow Pattern???
oil should fill from the bottom, forces air out of the cooler and insures consistent flow/pressure.
if you fill from the top the oil just waterfalls down to the exit and some of the paths never see oil as they have air in them.

Re: OUTLAW 3, a new race series for SWB 4x4's
We have Class 3 setup with CODE now. I'm already on the entry list. Alfonso thought it would be a good idea to set the wheelbase limit to 110.5" consistent with JeepSpeed. I agree that's a good idea. The class rules are pretty wide open. Production based, 110.5" wheelbase, 4x4 required. Its a Pro Cl...

another example is the non c-clip front ttb diffs (aka bolted diff) was 1980-1982 but sometimes you see them on a 1983 in the junk yard.

Re: Reverse wire underneath the dash?
many of the bronco era fords had a sending unit on the side of the auto tranny where the shift shaft enters. this would provide both the reverse signal and the park signal (to lock out the starter circuit)
you should be able to find a wiring diag if your bronco uses this

I have broken two 31-spline axles, three lunchbox lockers, one Trutrac, and worn out both Auburn's and TracLocs, just for the record.

Re: Which steering box?
Is it an inside frame box or and outside frame box? Is it a 4-bolt or a 3-bolt? What ratio is it? What sector splines? Why is it better than other Saginaw boxes? BTW, did you know that some Chevy and Ford Saginaw boxes appear to have interchangeable pitman arms as but the Ford is slightly bigger so ...
