Re: Access at long last!

Hey Woodsman. I think our paths crossed over on FSB talking about Threat double swingsets. I'm desertdawg over there. Like you I registered here a long time ago and even forgot what random name I picked. Anyways, we're both late to the party here but there's still a lot of knowledge to be had. A man...

Re: The Junkyard Dog, Rod's Bronco.

Not the update I was expecting. That sucks, maybe. I was basically reorg'd out of a job. They'd never tell anyone to leave just give 'special projects' to inspire you to leave. I was able to take an early retirement. Not ideal, but no regrets. Life is better now. Hope it all works out for you.

Nice work. Looking forward to seeing the hubs on. What WMS width you shooting for? I'm on the hunt for a 9". My 8.8 with spacers is not going to last.

Hell of a project. Respect. Didn't know rust was that bad down there. As an ignorant American I assumed more desert climate v. coastal living. Brake booster on the wrong side too.

The answer to the "I'll never use this stuff" question. That's the way to learn. Nice lathe.

Tagging along, especially for swap knowledge. I'd be stoked with some base Coyote power.

Re: 12v electric Air Conditioning

Hey David, good info. I was mostly joking about a mini-split but you mean business! Definitely on the right path with LIfepo4 batteries and DC to DC charging, not that I'm any expert. Did set up a frig in a 4Runner with a Bluetti Lifepo4 battery with built in MPPT and two 100 watt panels on a RTT. O...

Re: 12v electric Air Conditioning

Sign me up too. At least for a rear unit. I've got a 240A alternator thats supposed to make 210A at 800 RPM. They make higher. There's days in AZ when I'm ready for solar, lithium batteries and a mini-split hanging off the back.

Re: Hello from AZ

Hey @biggiek and @toddz69 and any other AZ GFBs I'd like to find an alignment shop that would know what to do with our TTBs. I've had my front end back together for a while now with an alignment based on eyeballs, tape measure and feels, but would like to make sure it's as good as it can be. Appreci...

Super clean and I'm with you on the mirrors. Knocked one of the factory mirrors off and replaced with some of Rockauto's finest. Can barely see out of them with all the shaking and vibrations.

Re: What axles for my bastard beams

What Brakes are those? EBC Brake Kit. Don't normally go for slotted/dimple stuff but rotors/pads to my door was $218. Must have been on sale as it's $300 now. A rotor at NAPA is $80 and pads $50 so I thought I'd give it a go. https://www.buybrakes.com/ebc-brakes-s3kf1038-s3-greenstuff-6000-brake-pa...

Re: What axles for my bastard beams

I thought hard about the D50 stub shaft and probably could have found one on eBay but I worried about the fit in the beam pocket. I opened the hole more but the slip yoke boot rides real close to the 1/4 plating on the beam. Looking at your photo the slip yoke thickness looks to be the same at the b...

What axles for my bastard beams

thumbnail_IMG_4006.jpg My '95 came with sleeved axles at 29.5" RH and 20.5" LH when I bought it in 2020. Been running 99.9% of the time in 2wd (and/or not paying attention most of the time) and found the passenger axle pulled out of the housing. This commenced a tear down and addressing a lot of ma...
