Re: 347 stroker questions
Here is the poop on the 5.0L Knock Sensor: The Knock Sensor is a signal generating device called an accelerometer. It detects engine detonation (knocking), and converts this frequency signal in a voltage. The sensor consists of a piezoelectric element mounted in a threaded metal housing. Vibrating ...

Amsoil ATF. Even more important is a good trans cooler and temperature gauge.

Re: Should I rebuild Injectors? Other engine questions.
1995 351w 160,000 miles I'm pulling the motor to take care of some small items and remove the smog pump (hacked up by the PO). The motor runs very well, any reason I should consider going through the fuel injectors, i've seen a few rebuild kits on ebay. I would rather not if it might cause some iss...

I would highly recommend Remflex Exhaust Gaskets. No need to tighten header bolts. And I like my ARP 12 point bolts. http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/852047/fullsize/remflex-rf3003.jpg http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/918869/fullsize/afr-1852.jpg http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/950461/fullsiz...

It should go in a factory or tapped port on the side to protect the sender and wiring. See the right side of the pic below. http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/885977/fullsize/p1010034.jpg I have changed my sender to the E4OD Test Port to find much more accurate readings. Re: steering ujoints
Chris makes a great point regarding his caged race truck, but I must underscore the importance of having a telescoping shaft in a daily driver to keep the steering wheel out of your chest during a head-on collision. I upgraded to the Borgeson Shaft with needle bearing u-joints (eliminating the rag j...

Re: Whats this hose?
That's the coolant supply hose to the throttle body. It runs from the intake manifold to the bottom of the throttle body. That's a super easy fix. I believe you are correct! Below is the Water Pump Bypass Hose... http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/918870/fullsize/performance-ss-thermostat-housing.j...

Re: I have a mouse in my distributor!
If you will be using an MSD Multi-Spark Ignition Control, be sure to connect the ground directly to the battery or risk voltage spikes that can damage the box, coil, TFI ICM and PIP. In other words, do not use a body ground. And I recommend the MSD harness that allows bypassing the MSD Box, if requi...

Re: I have a mouse in my distributor!
In the distributor housing, there is a sealed bearing at the top and a bushing at the bottom to support the spinning shaft. Seeing that they are pressed in, I think it may be time for a new distributor. http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/924375/fullsize/dis-(7).jpg http://www.supermotors.net/getfile...

Re: Upgrading heads on a factory roller 351. Help please
I would definitely go with the AFR 185 head for a 351w based engine. My heads had a lot of work prior to install, but these AFRs are reportedly excellent straight out of the box. Regarding piston dish size, I am using SRP Forged Mahle 31cc Inverted Dome Pistons as I have a 4" stroked 351w based engi...

Re: What is this chingadera?
A couple of things, first: If you've got a '95, you likely also have the wrong ignition control module installed in that heat sink. The one you have is a GRAY 'push start' type module. 94's to 96's most universally need a BLACK 'CCD type' module. Do NOT use ANY parts store's reference numbers to gi...

Re: Need Ideas for a 393 stroker build
Ron, Thanks a ton... I've looked at March and didn't see anything that I wanted... this hits the mark though.... I agree, stay away from underdrive pulleys for my application. We just don't spin our motors like a race car and there is no need and it can actually decrease performance as you mentione...

Re: Need Ideas for a 393 stroker build
Underdrive pulleys can increase about a 10-12 HP increase on high RPM race engines by inducing less drag or resistance. Again, these are typically used in high RPM performance applications. Many racers drive to the strip and change out their pulleys and reprogram their EEC. A heavy Bronco using unde...

All March Performance pulleys and covers. No underdrive . I recommend that you call March directly as some of these pulleys are not in their catalogue. I actually just installed them along with other engine mods and I just reinstalled the engine. Might fire it up tomorrow for break-in. Next month I ...

Re: Need Ideas for a 393 stroker build
First off, hp is irrelevent to low rpm torque. I dyno at only 375 hp, but have 510 ft/lb torque flat throughout most of my power band and with a faster 0-60 time than a 93-95 Lightning. Leave the high hp for the Mustangs that operate at a much higher rpm. To go Stroker, you will need to upgrade your...
