Re: Random updates... what are you working on?
Started building my 87 Bronco into a GoSlowBronco out of various scrounged parts.
What the heck, if I can't sell it off, I may as well use it.
Stripping it of all the dead weight I can first, Interior is gutted at this point.

MAF conversion Change the dash?
87 B 5.0L AOD
When changing from SD to MAF is there anything beyond the engine that has to be changed; specifically the instrument cluster?

Re: chevy l.s. engine swap vs good old ford power
Just a side note without bias to whatever engine. I am working on a rig (a Ford) that may have to meet emissions and after this thread I started to wonder... I called my Oregon State contact who said flatly: “The replacement engine being installed in must be of the same make, model and year and/or n...

Re: chevy l.s. engine swap vs good old ford power
I hope you guys realize that Ford or Chevy would have no problem buying an import engine and installing from the factory. The engine doesn't know what brand it is. ...heck GM bought Ford transmissions there for a while back in the day and wasn't it Yamaha that built that 4 valve something or other ...

Re: chevy l.s. engine swap vs good old ford power
the blind, brand loyalty I often see on FTE & similar. I get that and I have flat out made more money building GM engines over the past nearly 35 years then Ford, but I only own Fords and it has been that way for decades. The single most common flaw people make with this discussion is not comparing...

Re: chevy l.s. engine swap vs good old ford power
I personally don't get the "hermaphrodite" type thinking. For me it's the best part for the job at the best price - no matter who made it. I see guys get their panties all in a twist over a Ford in a Chevy, or more commonly vice versa. To me - who the fook cares. If it has more HP and gets better M...

Re: chevy l.s. engine swap vs good old ford power
A Ford that is powered by a GM engine is worth less then the same build using a GM platform. Even if that GM engine is the ultimate development of the Ford Small Block: the LS-series. Personally I will agree with Rod in that I would build a 2014 era 5.8L Ford rather then swap the LS. My reason is si...

Re: New Bronco from the factory??
I don't want them to re-introduce the Bronco. There....I said it. It went out on top, and it will always be a legend. If you want a new bronco, buy a 79. If they bring it back now they will just screw up the name because they have to cater to what the general public wants, and the general public is...
Re: 400 ford
Chris, Agreed re: the comp. ratio, bringing the stock 8:1 up to mid 9's improves power and torque no end. My comment was directed mainly at the 351/400M heads, however, even 351C heads are very long in the tooth and hard to find in good condition. Hence the reference to alloy heads..... lighter, fa...
Re: 400 ford
Dont waste your time with iron heads, the factory 400 heads are sjit, they crack easily and arent good for performance of any kind. This comment is true for the actual 351M-400 heads however the 351-Cleveland heads do not have the cracking problem and other then weighing more are otherwise identica...

Re: Adding a tank
I'm guessing the ethanol will eat the aluminum? Yes though it will take time. The action I have seen is: Most vehicles with custom aluminum tanks spend long periods sitting. Aluminum tanks are typically not fabricated to be sealed thus they are vented to the atmosphere. Aluminum tanks tend to sweat...

Re: Adding a tank
They sold an aftermarket 70 gallon rear tank but the company (northwest) that was making them sold that division. Now days Solo Motorsports makes one, and possibly aero tanks, I emailed solo recently about the same thing, the reply email said to call down and discuss the options reguarding size. So...
