Re: 351w to c-6 with NP205

Totally agree with the above post. I have a '79 Bronco with a 400 that I rebuilt back in 2000. It has about 100,000 miles on the rebuild now and runs great. It does get low on oil pressure if the engine is run at 3000 RPM sustained, probably for the indicated reasons: valve covers full of oil and no...

Re: Carb vs. EFI

I wouldn't get anywhere near a carb in this day and age. I can tune every little thing in my fuel system using my netbook via USB, no more dropping bowls to change jets and getting fuel all over the place for me!

Re: Radiator fitment

If you're happy with your rad, why not take it to Performance Radiator and have them rod it out, reseal it. Might cost $60-75 and be like a new radiator.

Re: Who runs what tires and why?

I picked up a set of Kumho AT51s and love them. I've driven them at speeds over 75 mph on dirt while cornering and they handle better than my old BFG A/T KOs. I find the AT51 is a perfect balance between offroad and highway handling. Kumho tires are very underrated for some reason, not sure why. My ...

I'm running 4.11s with 35" tires and like it fine, but I'm definitely looking for overdrive past 80 mph.

Re: Leaving quad shock setup vs. removing

You can simply call Bilstein and they'll set you up with the correct 5100 part for your application based on lift and travel requirements. Much better than the Procomp stuff, for sure. I also had the Procomp ES3000 kit and the ride became very harsh after a few years.

Re: What kind of oil should i run in a stroker motor?

I run Rotella T6 5W40 synthetic diesel engine oil in my street 408, but it's a Ford 400 (Cleveland) and the oil galleys are massive, so that is generally the thinnest oil you would want to run in one of those engines. I run that oil in the summer in Arizona as well as in the winter, even on trips to...

I've used info from Ryan's websites for many years now and feel that he really made an impact in the Ford EFI tuning community. I was just wondering if anyone knows what happened to Ryan McCormick (Fireguy).

Re: 351w to c-6 with NP205

The other thing is that it's pretty hard to beat the cylinder head design of the 400 since it's essentially a Cleveland engine with canted valves. The dry manifold is another plus in the durability department.

Re: 351w to c-6 with NP205

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the Ford 400, myself as well. I especially like the dry manifold. However, if you had to do a small block Ford, the 4R70W is a good option in 4x4 form. Apparently, someone is making adapters to mount small block Ford transmissions to big block Fords now: http://www.transmissio...

Ha ok. Yes, there are several threads on the conversion, but I believe I started here a long time ago: http://corner-carvers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19331

Re: Spark Plug recommendations?

For wires, I like the MSD Super Conductor stuff as well as Taylor's Spiro-Pro and really any of their products. Taylor is very good stuff. I've converted all of my old junk to Ford EDIS8 coil pack ignition, which runs much hotter than all other factory ignition systems, so I use NGK or Autolite copp...

I've had the Toyo M/Ts in 35x13.50x15 since 2010 and very happy with them, although the Arizona sun has beaten the rubber down a fair bit.

Re: Eliminating Fan Clutch for Electric Fans

Electronics have come a long way in the last 200 years. There's plenty of reliability built into electric fans that are properly designed and implemented today. A good case in point is the dual Contour/Mystique fan assembly so popular for use in Fox Mustangs. I believe the story behind the design of...

Re: MAF Years on F150's

That's a lot of really good info on the EEC-V . Is the 4R70w shorter then the E4OD? Is it stronger than the E4OD? According to TRS, E4OD is 31.5" and the 4R70W is 27.5" for the 4WD models. http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showpost.php?s=22819f1760442466c5ae6753f4127ed0&p=961367&postcount=3 I ...

Re: MAF Years on F150's

I think that's the real issue... those wanting to run an E4OD or 4R70W transmission. What CAN be done, is ditching the EEC-IV entirely and stepping up to an EEC-V system with CDAN4 strategy. This is a very popular strategy, although using 104-pin EEC connector and harness, has some very nice feature...

Re: Water Pumps and Quality???

I found that the stock Motorcraft aluminum pump on a supercharged 302 did a pretty dismal job of cooling, even with a massive radiator and twin electric cooling fans in an otherwise stock '89 Ford Mustang 5.0. The Victor Jr. on the otherhand...
