Re: Rugged Radios Stretched Bronco - Factory Race Support, Tacos, and Coffee!

Well, sir. You clearly have way more experience and insight on this topic... since I'm, fortunately, not doing the work, I'll either get it it and love it, or learn it. Either way, I'm excited to have this project started. It's been in the works for a long time.

Re: Rugged Radios Stretched Bronco - Factory Race Support, Tacos, and Coffee!

FWIW Bill Wood once commented to me that those brake bias adjusters are the singular largest headache his tech people have and he'd discontinue them if he though he could. Good to know. I hadn't planned this brake change now, especially considering I a have a trip into Nevada next weekend, but it's...

Re: Rugged Radios Stretched Bronco - Factory Race Support, Tacos, and Coffee!

Did the porting ever get done on the intake Steve, or did that ever happen? The exhaust looks great. Why manual brakes? No worries! Yes. Porting is done and waiting for the new engine. Although, I'm tempted to install it on the current engine just to feel the difference. The current system was a ho...

Re: ABS Removal

Sooooo... I've only ever perused this thread. my ABS actuator just got removed. The control module and other electronics are still installed. I'm hoping to not need to dive into this before a trip next weekend.

Does the unhappy shifting only occur when the module is unplugged?

It started with a giant air cleaner....

Re: Hei distributor swap

The distributor cap should have markings telling you how to connect. You need two grounds internally, and external ground, positive power (with key on) and coil (-).

I don't have any images on me now but can circle back. Post photos and I'll help.

Re: Superduty Knuckle on a Dana 50 TTB

I don't see the advantage. The D50 parts are damn strong and serviceable. As far as I know, unit bearings were designed to be less costly to assemble, not because they're better.

Re: Rugged Radios Stretched Bronco - Factory Race Support, Tacos, and Coffee!

The guys that did the intake manifold porting also do throttle body so I figured it would be good to have it all matched. I’ve also not heard good things about aftermarket throttle bodies… I like stock, so it seemed like a win to me. Regarding Magnaflow exhaust on Broncos… well, I just got back from...

KOH 2024 - King of the Canners

Who’s going to KOH this year? I’ll be out there working as per usual and hoping to sneak out to a few runs, meetups, and to clean up with the guys at the Bad Lines Good Times forum. Not sure what day this is happening, but will update when I get more info. https://forum.badlinesgoodtimes.com/threads...

Re: Antenna Delete Ideas

Always looking for education on antennas. To many of them out there to digest all the hype. Steve, Does Rugged have VHF/UHF gain comparisons for antennas and their location. Hi Paul, we don't. Data sheets on our offerings are available separately but there is no single document to compare on. As fa...

Re: Antenna Delete Ideas

I would love to get a all band all mode radio that would be in the 100-200 watt range, but most antennas that will cover 25mhz to 500mhz don't look to durable for off road. That's the problem with multi-band antennas. We designed a great dual band (VHF / UHF) antenna years ago but have been hesitan...

Dang. Bummer. I always use a gasket and a small amount of sealant (I like Motorcraft TA-31). And if the timing cover is even remotely sketchy, I replace it. Good luck, brother!

Re: "Blanc-Oh!", my distraction

You shouldn't need to change the seal if it's not leaking (but I get that it's easy maintenance while you're there). Alignments can be a lot of work if there are worn components since you can't really set it that way. As soon as the car moves, drag, gravity, etc., will push it out of alignment again...

Re: Rugged Radios Stretched Bronco - Factory Race Support, Tacos, and Coffee!

Wilson Truck Comments - The ABS kit was not one of my great ideas. They worked ok after a bunch of tweaking. Looks like Steve is making it more conventional. My decision for ABS was the significant increase in line pressure versus stock. Oh well. Yes it is a 7000 # rig and needs really good brakes....
