Re: Ice chest / Cooler tech
So how much faster will this make the truck in the whoops? Should we put one in the race car? Okay you can ban me now and send me to FSB! Ken, it's all about placement. A filled ice chest position can make or break the balance of a whoop-eating machine. Also, the contents can make or break the hour...

Re: 5.0 ho needs some low end power
But will the AODE work on my truck? I don't have the fancy computer-controlled what-not that trucks with the AODE in them did, and I heard that the computer or whatever you need to make it work is really expensive. I also heard that their cases are longer than the AOD's. I was thinking about going t...

Re: 5.0 ho needs some low end power
Since this thread is already dedicated to 302 power issues, I'll post my question here. I do a fair bit of highway driving and I'm kind of getting sick of cruising at 65-ish and slowing to 55-ish when I try to crawl up a hill, is this another job for gearing? I'm still running stock gears.

Re: Paint or powder coat?
How long have the automakers been galvanizing the frames and such? I crawled under my Bronc the other day and took a good look at the frame, its been in the mid-west its whole life (22 years) and the absolute worst I could find was surface rust. Its a shame Ford didn't galvanize the tailgate....

Re: Rear Tire Carrier
I really really like Shadofax's rear carrier : http://www.fullsizebronco.com/forum/sho ... p?t=159543
Have it go over the gate and bolt to the cage, viola! a handy tailgate step (that also happens to double as a tire-carrier, lets see the new super duty's step do that).

Re: Paint or powder coat?
You could scrape off the material, weld where it needs welded, then re-apply it with a can of the touch-up liner that they sell. I'm thinking of it as more of a "my truck is where I want it, lets make it purdy" step where the only welding you'll be doing is the kind that results from those big-ass r...

Re: Paint or powder coat?
I always associated powdercoating with trailer-queens since its kind of a pain to touch up and less durable than a properly primered and painted part. I'd just do a nice primer/paint job (there are some durable paints out there) and periodically crawl under to patch up little chips and such. Crazy i...

Thanks for the welcome. I gotta admit I'm kind of intimidated the more I learn, it seems like most of what goes into building a rig can only be learned by experience, and I have zip in both desert racing and fabrication skills.

Re: Stuff that'll leave you stranded-Learn from other's mistakes
Don't reuse the stock exhaust exit location. I saw a guy rip his new Pacesetter exhaust system out of his F-150 from the muffler back after his pipe hooked on a rock that the rear tire just went over. And although this goes without saying, I'll post it for giggles. If you're trying to pull a Jeep ou...

Re: Start Your Go-Fast Build-Rear Suspension
So I notice that most of the 2-link set-ups have the bar attached under the leaf then going back and mounting just below the shackle, has anyone run a setup where the 2-link in inside the leaf like the Superlift bars? Does the change in mounting positions affect how much/little the bar affects the u...

Re: Only widen the front? / Ride-height questions
Don't some classes restrict how much wider a trucks stance can be? And how does the wider stance all around affect on-road driveability/parkability?

Another FSBer
Whatsup guys. I'm another convert from FSB, I found the link to this place in their BroncoSpeed forum. I've got a bone-stock '88 thats mechanically solid (AOD excluded) and just begging to be desert-ified and jumped. I'm still about two or so years from starting my build (Gotta finish college and ge...
