Re: Dave's Black '96 in MI

So I said it was going to be forever for me to finish this and I was serious... But there has been some progress recently. The radius arms are finished from a structural standpoint, lower shock mounts are tacked on and temporary shock hoops are in place for cycling purposes. It cycled 21 inches as a...

That will help the body someday but the frame and axles don't work as well in fiberglass ;)

Re: Dave's Black '96 in MI

For all you Cali guys; the bubbles in the paint in the above picture is rust. I know you guys don't deal with it much but we hate it here in the midwest. ;)

Re: Dave's Black '96 in MI

So I talked about the tacked together radius arms, pics are below. The intent is to put a plate that would cap the two tubes near the axle end and butt a gusset to this plate that would extend back to where the limiter strap is attached. There would be another gusset near the frame mount end but the...

Re: Dave's Black '96 in MI

So it has been a whole year since I have posted anything here. School and work really kept me busy as well as a timing chain tensioner failure in my 07' Avalanche... It took 12 teeth off the cam gear and let the crankshaft go about 90° out of phase from the cam, it bent every intake valve and associ...

Re: Autofab bedsides

Just so you guys know, Fastenal (yes, the nut and bolt company) ships things at an extremely reasonable rate. I checked a pair of front fenders from CA to here in Michigan and it was $59 for the pair. they need to be taken to a Fastenal store and picked up from one but still a pretty good deal. Link...

Re: Dave's Black '96 in MI

Welcome to the site! That's a heck of a play room you built! I just gotta say though, 20"s up front is going to be a pretty tall order. Even with extended beams. Well... As of right now, I'm not planning on extending the beams. So, I'll settle for whatever I can get. What is the most that you guys ...

Now that the history is over; on to current state (don't want anyone to think that I have been sitting around doing nothing). Here is the current state: P8070003.JPG Radius arm mounts fab'ed and tacked in place: P8070005.JPG Plates to attach the Radius arms to the beams. Thanks to jkrell for the dim...

Dave's Black '96 in MI

I have to preface this by saying that I am and will continue to be a little embarrassed by the picture of the build that I will be posting. Some of the build threads that I have seen are amazing and some of you guys are truly artists with a welder. I can make 2 pieces of metal stick together with a ...

Re: What Spring rate do you use on King 14" C/O's?

I've been told by a shock guy never to have more than 100lbs spread between primary and secondary spring because valving becomes a pain. The summary is if the stiffness jump is too large your using the springs to provide dampening rates instead of valving choices. From what the shock guy was tellin...

Re: What Spring rate do you use on King 14" C/O's?

So I went to King yesterday and was talking to Bret, he told me i should do 350 over 500. So thats what I'm going with. I'll let you guys know how I like it. What lengths did he suggest. I just bought a pair of Kings for the front of my bronco and was told they were 450/500 and when they arrived, t...

Thanks a bunch, the suspension design links page has a ton of great stuff!

I am assuming you put the multiple holes in the brackets on the top of the rear end?

Anti - squat

Hey guys, I searched and searched for this but was unable to find anything on this site, maybe someone can direct me. What anti - squat % is a good target? Or where is the lengthly discussion about anti - squat for 4 - linked trucks? I was going to shoot for 80% because it seems like that would be g...

Re: Gear oil weight for detroit locker?

Paul W hit the nail on the head! I am the aftermarket engineer for Supercharger here at EATON and that gives me a lot of face time with one of the engineers in torque control that was hired when EATON purchased Detroit Locker, he is actually helping me with my bronco project. Put whatever you want i...

Re: Newbie from Michigan

Welcome! Be interesting to see you go turbo...wish we didn't have the restrictions we do out here in Ca. I was at KOH this year for work and for the first time found a place in Cali that I really liked; the desert. I'm not much for the city and traffic. When I was wandering around the pits and else...
