Re: Not NAPA Starters
I use all Powermaster stuff on the race Bronco and the Super Duty chase truck. Never had any issues with their starters. Actually never had any issues with the Motorcraft unit on the Super Duty, but at 350K miles, I took it off and carry it as a spare and bolted in a Powermaster.

John has been spending quite a bit of time in Mexico. Seems to be easier to catch Wed, Thurs or Fri. They have been a little short handed in the shop.

Good progress. That Dychem looks like pretty fancy stuff. Should work well. I just use a plain old paint pen.

Re: 96 spindles
It is unfortunate that there are so many variations of spindles. After some bad experiences with some imported spindles, it may be just as well that the Yukon stuff doesn't work. There is nothing quite like watching your wheel, hub and spindle head out into the desert without the rest of the truck. ...

Re: Oil pressure gauge?
I THINK- you snip that resistor and you use a sender from earlier trucks and you’re now reading pressure. I believe I have heard that as well. I am just not sure what the year break is for the earlier trucks with actual analog senders. I know that a 68 would still have the analog sender but couldn'...

Re: Oil pressure gauge?
Most of the oil pressure gauges in the later model (90's) OEM panels really aren't reading pressure, they are really just a glorified idiot light. Have you noticed they always go to the same place and don't vary whether the engine is idling or at cruise? The contact closes when the pressure comes up...

Definitely closer to that first price. I've seen them at the big RC demonstration booth at the Mint race for the last couple of years. Traxxis makes some pretty good stuff.

Re: Heat Shrink Tubing Printer???
I use them for work, control panel stuff. It's time consuming but worth the effort in the long run. I think the clear over the top is probably overkill but certainly an idea. I have an obsolete Brady unit that used fixed length tubes on a strip. IT also used ink cartridges that always seemed to be t...

Re: Gauge cluster issue? ‘96 Powestroke
Typically a speedo jumping issue is the speed pickup sensor in the rear end. Sometimes they just have a build up of filings on them, or sometimes they just fail. Not sure how that's related or not to the fuel gauge, haven't had that happen to mine yet. Since all the wiring for both goes back to rear...

Re: 1989 Ford Bronco II
I can vouch for them being a pretty good machine. I still have an 86 with +300K on it, and I know all the weak spots. I just don't have it in the work truck rotation anymore. The cold idle thing is apparently common to them most of them, and like you say, it is fine once it warms up. That's the very...

Re: Window Regulator Opinions
I have used a lot of Dorman stuff. About the same endurance as the original stuff in my experience. Many times the problem with a slow motor is the lubrication has gone away, and you have rusty metal on rusty metal. That's lube everywhere, all of the pivot points, the motor bearings. You also need t...

Re: Top Removal and storage - dumb idea?
Not that it will help you much, but my father in law built a fixture that fits on the end of his engine hoist to lift the metal top off his EB. He can do it completely by himself. He doesn't have the full cage, just the main hoop, so the lift doesn't interfere.

Re: Leaf spring hanger ?
We use the 6 bolt F250 hangers on the race Bronco. Haven't broken one since. The main thing is they work with the Deaver military wrap without any modifications. Two of the holes match up, the other two you have to fill and then re-drill for the other 4. We use a modified bushing to work with the 2-...

Re: FRONT DIFF. GEARS
When the spider gears go, it often ruins the carrier as well as the ring and pinion. If you're running an open front end, Dana stuff is pretty standard and available. We run an open front end and replace the spider gears often. They will go 1000 miles, but not 2000 with the abuse we give them in our...
