Re: The Vieja

Got the exhaust back from Crest Coatings yesterday. The Cerakote came out great. Those guys do quality work out there. Got it all mounted up last night and did the backyard wire brush and rattle can on the frame, just so it look presentable. Got a couple photos before paint.

Re: The Vieja

Got some free time, so we went after the exhaust. Knowing what sound I wanted, I narrowed it down to a dynamax 3" muffler. Wanting the crossover left me with limited choices. I also didn't want it on one side. I was dead set on putting it in the center of the truck. I was able to get it where I want...

Re: The Vieja

Exhaust ended up getting bumped for a bit. Decided to go ahead and get everything wired and fire it. Waiting for an air cleaner to get here so I can make the heat shield and mounts. Fired it up today and drove it around the yard. Everything seems to be fine. Guess I have to start the exhaust now. Pr...

Re: The Vieja

I wasn't liking the steel one, so I cut a new one out of aluminum and had it anodized black. I like it much better. If someone has an LQ9 or truck LS that needs the steel parts, they're all yours. Just need heims & shaft. Hoping to start the exhaust this weekend. Gonna cram some 3" tubing where it d...

Re: The Vieja

Finally squeezed out a little more time for my project. Got the return line plumbed to the stock tank, as well as getting all the filters and pump mounted and plumbed. Zip ties are only temporary. Was having some difficulty deciding how to get a cable around the intake over to the throttle body. Dec...

Re: The Vieja

Back at it again! Finally made the decision to put the electrical in the cab. Put together an electrical console which will be mounted on the tunnel. Once everything is in and wired, I will make a console to contain it all. With removeable panels of course for access. Also found a place for the batt...

Re: The Vieja

I have been working on the Nova trying to go to the TCI / Steve's Nova site event, but the bumpers didn't come back from chrome. Sooo, I decided to spend the day on the old girl. Put all the pieces for the console together. The wife got me the Art Carr shifter for my birthday, so I had to figure out...

Re: Robert's Horse With No Name ...

I am sure there is a small percentage of guys who never let us know and the other group that has never looked under their vehicles once the trans guy sold it to them. Fact is, we would rather correct any issues and have legitimate low numbers. If you guys have any cooling issues, or ideas. Shoot the...

Re: Robert's Horse With No Name ...

Let me know if the Mag pan doesn't work out and you want to give the Derale pan a shot. If they are leaking, the info is not making it back to us. We ship out 200-300 pans (various vehicles) every month and I checked our RGA system which is showing only 2 returned over the last year. If we have a le...

Re: The Vieja

Trucks bee n sitting a little due to some other project neglect. The kid wanted a new bumper for his blazer so he stole a weekend from the Vieja. I did get the fender braces in and I'm waiting for John from Autofab to send me the inner fender pieces before I mount them. Was going with the Zeus tabs,...

Re: The Vieja

That photo is like looking in a mirror!
Well, one of those fun house mirrors. I might have a few extra pounds.

TIG Welder is on the equipment want list.
Got a few things ahead of it, but definately a must have for cleanliness.
I do have a new welding table now, so maybe it will be coming soon.

Re: The Vieja

I guess it's boots on the weekend now.
Who would of thought a build thread would have come with wisdom.
As long my work doesn't end up linked to some "Bro Fab" page, I am game for any advise, opinions or suggestions.
Happy Easter guys, enjoy the family.

Re: The Vieja

Just finished painting. Primer dried quicker than I thought. Shot it all with urethane so it should be ready to install Monday.
Pictures coming soon.
Seems like I am going to paint this whole truck one piece at a time.

Re: The Vieja

No sweat on the detour. The price doesn't work for me at this time, but you never know down the road. Decided to reinforce the inner fender supports (what left of them) today. With most of them cut away, they had started to tear with the steal fenders. Figuring with the glass fenders, I might want t...

Re: The Vieja

Like I said, his ballpark was way out of whack. I was figuring about half for all 6. Maybe I am out of whack too.
Not sure how sought after they are, maybe the reason you cant find them is, nobody wants them.
