Re: TRC's 79' build
Back with some updates finally. Been trying to make progress when I can, but life’s busy! Not to mention a built another Bronco between my last update and now.
Frame was blasted, then I worked on boxing it in and fabbing a new crossmember.

Re: TRC's 79' build
Got a little further into the TTB build during quarantine. I got the crossmember in its permanent home and added some ears to give it a bit more weld surface. Notched the frame and started cycling the suspension, this is where the issues started. From ride height I was only cycling 5.5'' bump travel...

Re: TRC's 79' build
Thanks man! Yeah his beams shine like a Diamond in a goats a$$ on this thing haha, now I have to step up my work. I couldn't help myself, had to mock things up and see how its going to look. https://www.supermotors.net/getfile/1153373/fullsize/d2af11198ec54ee4b69e2d13883e509b.jpeg https://www.superm...

Re: TRC's 79' build
Got the front end (very) roughly set in place to get the lay of the land and see where everything will end up. It's gonna be wide! https://www.supermotors.net/getfile/1153298/fullsize/887d8f070c724366850c977f6656e6c3.jpeg https://www.supermotors.net/getfile/1153299/fullsize/97d236f8f3704e98a060af641...

Re: Was it something I said?
As it’s been stated previously, IG has really taken over. I prefer Forums, you find much more detailed pictures and information on the builds, and people are much more likely to respond to questions. IG seems to garner more attention and interaction, but it’s rare to find people genuinely interested...

Re: TRC's 79' build
Those look nice! What coating? Jet Coat or something similar? They're Jet Hot coated, supposed to be a no questions asked lifetime warranty. Haven't got to touch this project unfortunately, been working on my other bronco, which snowballed into me building a 545 stroker for it too.... But I did sco...

Re: TRC's 79' build
No kidding! I'm really glad I held out and waited for these, ill have the first set too, so that's kinda cool. I also got some coated 2 1/4" primary to 4" collector Fenderwell exit headers, hoping there will be enough tire clearance with the wider beams now. https://www.supermotors.net/getfile/11413...

Re: TRC's 79' build
Got some pictures of my completed beams from Cho, just waiting on the radius arms to get cut and bent, then I can finally get back to work on this thing. It will help that my wife will be back from her deployment by then so I wont be on Mr. Mom duty anymore. 4.5" wider per side, CNC laser cut/bent, ...

Re: TRC's 79' build
We just did the same thing to a customers 1966 F100 frame last month with the crossmember. It was easier than drawing everything up for laser. We built a fixture for locating elevation wise and had to hog out the driverside of the frame on the inside so the diff could cycle up at bump. 29683613_198...

Re: TRC's 79' build
Minor update... Tore the engine/front suspension out. Got a donor Bronco and took the beams/crossmember out. Also grabbed a D50 with the bolt in style shaft from Shawn T on here (thanks again! Was nice meeting you). I've been talking with Cho, and am going to be running his new fully-fabbed 4.5" bea...

FREE factory beam pivot brackets
I have both driver and passenger pivot brackets removed from a factory crossmember. In decent shape, one has a few dings around the rivet holes from removal. Free to a good home, I'm located in Idaho but will ship if buyer covers shipping.

Where in Idaho? I'm in Mountain Home and may be interested in the D50 differential if the price is right

Re: TRC's 79' build
Boy, that truss and fixture look VERY familiar! We also tie the top together after having a rock pop the center of the housing and shatter the casting. It also keeps the tubes from compressing further into the center housing. Can't remember where the pictures of one of ours in the fixture is, and c...

Re: TRC's 79' build
True, however there would still be the bolt pattern dilemma since the Sterling 10.5 I have is 8x170mm not 8x6.5. I think I'll run the 9", if needed down the road I can upgrade the ring and pinion/full floater/40 splines etc. I got the motor torn down, and I'm glad I did... 4 pistons/rods were in 180...

I saw Flight Industries adapted the wildwood calipers to a factory knuckle today. Seamed like a simple, inexpensive setup. But we all know how fun it is welding to Cast Iron...

Re: TRC's 79' build
Not alot of updates on the Bronco unfortunately, between getting ready for our second kid and working 12's I haven't had as much time as I would like to work on it. However, this 1968 F100 4x4 short-bed popped up for way too cheap and I jumped on it with the intentions of flipping it. http://www.sup...
