Re: Another Bronco Build
Thanks for heads up on the 3 bolt.
I will keep eye out for 3 bolt 80-82 d44 third. Looks spendy and i already have this one re geared and lockered so i wll limp along with the spring until it fails or I find a three bolt.

Re: Another Bronco Build
yeah most (all?) lockers do not use the c clip on the inner axle and per most brands instructions a spring must be used... make sure you tack weld the cap on the inside of the slip yoke otherwise the spring will pop it out from pressure. I went with a D50 inner axle/slip yoke as it uses a 1350 u jo...

Re: Another Bronco Build
Yeah, that picture indicates the passenger axle plunged and stayed in that position because nothing held the inner axle back. You're going to want the 3 bolt third member from 80-83?? The spring is problematic with long travel due to the amount of plunge from full stuff to droop, but will certainly...

Re: Another Bronco Build
Thx RMC
As always well said
Yes it's the passenger side off a 96
The FSB guys talk about a spring to keep it in there.
I have only done mild 4x4ing so I can't imagine that it dropped out but who knows
Gonna tear into this week.

Im running the 4.88 with 35" and really like it.
cruises the 55 to 60 about 2000rpm
and
cruises the 70 about 2600 rpm
engine feels happy and mpg in the low teens.
acceleration is great too.
Dirt so far feels right.
