Re: Cop/Ambulance Dual Alt Brackets
Stoked for you Wright. Just sharing my thoughts on something I've studied up on a bit. Kartman there's a few different mounting patterns available but there should be a on the shelf in every auto store alrenator that'll get you a lot closer to where you wanna be with your charging system. If not the...

Re: Cop/Ambulance Dual Alt Brackets
Rewinds have worse output at lower rpm in exchange for more out put at high rpm. There's dudes out there on the interwebs that sells a 200amp rectifier kit that works with factory winds. Thinking this may be what you got and your alternator shop misled you. especially if your getting higher output d...

Re: Cop/Ambulance Dual Alt Brackets
Correct, no factory dual alternator brackets for the 302/351w that I've ever been able to find. Theres a few write ups on adding a second alternator in place of the air injection pump. I threw in a van alternator in mine for a "factory" upgrade that can be replaced at any auto parts store. I'd like ...

Metal is metal doesn't matter what the heat source is. Pistons, rings and valves could care less what burned to make the heat.

Those temps seem high to me steel starts to get soft around 1200*. A couple bursts higher are survivable but maintaining those high temps spook me.

Re: Almost but not there yet 96'
Are they radials or bias ply? Bias ply will get flat spots from sitting and eventually smooth out after rolling down the road for a bit. Equal is the silicate balance stuff used in over the road tires. I've had success with coolant in my old rock crawler but not sure if it'd be right for a gofast ri...

Cool idea but won't work on a 1356 having planetary reduction and all.

Wheel base change will be more dramatic at droop. Larger cross section to hit because they're angled. I think there's actually a high end 2wd beam kit that may be what your describing. Google image search nick tonelli's truck.

Primary sizing should be based off of exhaust valve size.

Re: AN fittings & hose
If you go to mesa hose call first. Last two times I tried them they where closed during their posted business hour. Very frustrating and what gave porterfield my business last time. I'd go back to them but not as pumped on them as I used to be.

Re: Newb recommendations.
Who are you looking to communicate with and what do they have? That's the only way to decide what you need. If you want one or both just because you want it you don't need justification from the interwebz. Technically your required to have a license to transmit on anything besides a cb radio. Lot's ...

Re: General questions
4" is kind of the average to answer your question. Gives you a good amount of up travel which is what you and your busted back are looking for. Who ever is doing your cut and turn should be telling you what height to aim for or you should tell him what height to set the c/t up correctly . In a perfe...

Re: AN fittings & hose
Oh and don't get premade custom hoses if you can avoid it if your doing custom stuff. The biggest benefit of reusable AN fittings in my opinion is being able to reuse the fittings and make field repairs. Crimped stuff from an auto parts store not so much.

Re: AN fittings & hose
AN stuff is expensive. If you find it cheap please share the source. I bought from porterfield in costa mesa last time I needed something. Jegs or summit might have descent prices if you know what you need.
